Season's Greetings
After a frustrating few days and numerous delays, I finally got around to kicking off my seasonal movie watching season with a repeat viewing of The Magnificent Seven (1960). I would have watched it on Sunday evening, but various problems with the completion of a podcast ended up taking so much of my time that I missed the opportunity. A complete re-edit and re-shaping of aforementioned podcast, along with being forced to go around three different supermarkets in order to pick up half a dozen items (and I still forgot one of the main ones), pretty much wrote off Monday, as well. So, today, having bought a newspaper (and witnessed the last minute shopping panic engulfing the shops first hand), I went for a walk, before finally getting home and sitting down with a takeaway (having decided that I was too lazy to cook) to watch my DVD of The Magnificent Seven. Which I enjoyed very much. Even for the hundredth time. I feel as if the Christmas season has finally started for me.
So, there's little more to be said than to wish everyone a Merry Christmas - or whatever else you might be celebrating at this time of year. Mine will be as reclusive as ever, as I try to avoid the world and get some peace and quiet. I'll be hunkering down with my DVD collection, Roku box (with its highly dubious channels giving access to films they undoubtedly don't have the rights to) and a whole stack of stuff I've recorded on my DVR over the past few months. This is also meant to be a reduced sugar celebraton for me - thank God for sugar free chocolate biscuits and low sugar chocolate bars, otherwise I'd be devoid of any pleasure this Christmas. In the immediate future, I intend seeing in Christmas Day, as ever, with cheese, a big plate of sausage rolls, mince pies and a glass (or two) of Bourbon. To which end, I really must go and stick those sausage rolls in the oven. Merry Christmas.
